重型机械设备技工应履行下列部分或全部职责： Heavy-duty equipment mechanics perform some or all of the following duties:

• 检查推土机、起重机、平土机和其它重型建筑、农业、伐木和采矿设备，以确保其能正常运作，并对设备进行故障检测 Check bulldozers, cranes, graders and other heavy construction, agricultural, logging and mining equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions

• 使用电脑和其它诊断设备诊断机器故障以确定修复需要的时间 Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required

• 利用手动或电动工具调整设备、修理或更换磨损的零部件甚至是系统 Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools

• 测试修好的设备的性能，确保产品恢复原来的功能并和生产厂商的说明一致 Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers’ specifications

• 给机器清洁、涂润滑油或做一些其它日常性的维护工作 Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment

• 通常要求中学文化程度 Completion of secondary school is usually required.

• 有三到五年的学徒训练，或者有四年以上技工工作经验以及重型机械修理专业的高中，大学或工业课程的学习，才有资格获得技工证书 Completion of a three- to five-year apprenticeship program or A combination of over four years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in heavy equipment repair is usually required to be eligible for trade certification.
